boot camp
  • Parents and Sophomore Pre-ACT Boot Campers,

This is just a reminder that Wednesday, February 8, is our Pre-ACT Prep Boot Camp that your student signed up for.  We will be meeting in the basement at PHS.  We are scheduled to be there all day from 8:00 to 3:00.  Registration will begin at 7:45.  Attendance will be taken at Boot Camp, so students do not need to report to their classes on Wednesday.   Aramark will provide a pizza lunch at no cost for students.  Students may bring their own food if they wish or if they have a big appetite.  They will need to pack a lunch and bring it with them in the morning.  Outside food will not be permitted to be delivered or brought in during the lunch hour.  Students may bring drinks and snacks as well. It is going to be a fast pace and long day of learning and testing.  Information about the ACT, test strategies, and four mini-tests will be given this day. PHS will provide pencils, paper, and calculators.  Students may bring their own supplies including their own calculator if you wish.  Students are expected to attend all day.  A list was sent to teachers of who was attending this Boot Camp.  Students are responsible for making up the work they missed during this Boot Camp.  Even though it is entitled Boot Camp, I think they will have fun while learning great skills and test strategies.  I am very excited about Wednesday and know it is going to be an awesome day.   I also look forward to getting the test results back in two weeks and individually going over with your student their strengths and weaknesses.  One last reminder, students will need to sign up for an ACT test if they are planning to take US History next year at WBU.  Here is the website to sign up:  https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act/registration-information.html.   If you haven't registered for the February 11 exam, there are two additional days- April 8, 2017, and June 10, 2017.  I would advise you to do it soon.
