Highland AdministrationBecky BuxtonPrincipalMy name is Becky Buxton, and I absolutely have the very best job in the world! Highland is such a great place of learning and growing. I love not only being the principal here but being part of a "family" that puts children first.
Besides my "School Family," I have a husband, Bill, and two children. My daughter, Amy, and her husband, Chad, live in Lubbock. They have three wonderful children. I cherish being "Mia" to Ava, Hudson, and Kellen. I also have a son, Matt, in 11th grade. Having a teenager is keeping me busy! I enjoy playing golf, reading, gardening, and drawing/painting. I like coming to work at Highland each day because I get to see children learn new things. We are crazy for animals at the Buxton House. We have a Golden Retriever, a Yorkshire Terrier, a Maltese, and 2 Siamese cats—almost a zoo!
Leslie RichburgAssistant PrincipalOne of the best things about being an assistant principal is that I love to interact and get to know all of our students at Highland. Since our Highland students are learning and changing every day, I get to watch this growth every day. My motto is “I want to build students’ confidence so one day they will be living their dreams.” I am very fortunate that my husband, Brent, also works for the school district. Many of the parents at Highland were our very own students!
Another exciting aspect of my job is that I get to interact with our spectacular Highland staff. I get to witness first hand their creativity, collaboration, and commitment to excellence.
Did you know that my own children attended Highland Elementary? They received not only a top rate educational experience but they also learned a lot about leadership and teamwork. David is married and attending dental school in Houston. Kacy is attending medical school in Galveston, and Jacob is attending college at West Texas A&M University.
Next time you are at Highland, stop by and say “hi.” I look forward to meeting you.
